Boxee back on Apple TV

Boxee recently released a brand new version of their beta software, but unfortunately, that build didn't happen to work on the Apple TV. That's now been fixed, however, and you can now get the USB flash drive creator app that will give you a patchstick to install the latest version on that Apple box hooked up to your television. Here's a quick FAQ on the whole process if you need a little help with it, but it sounds pretty straightforward: set up the patchstick, power up the AppleTV with patchstick installed, and enjoy. And even if you have alpha currently installed, you can just put the stick in and upgrade to the beta, no worries.

That's some very impressive and quick work by a bunch of people who aren't obligated to do this at all (there are a few XBMC devs on the team as well, and the patchstick will allow you to install XBMC also, if you'd like).

Anyone else having trouble downloading the .dmg? When I click the link on the downloads page it redirects me to a support page instead of starting the .dmg download.

Nice hack, but definitely not ready for prime time. I spent an hour fiddling with it, and was able to get a you-tube video to play through boxee. Everything else was choppy or didn't play. Anytime I have to ssh, I sense a fundamental problem with the software/hardware. Sorry. Still like boxee on my Macbook Pro though...

I have been running the latest upgrade of boxee on the ATV for a couple weeks and I have to say it's much more responsive than the previous version.

Too bad watching Boxee on the ATV is unwatchable.. too choppy and sound playback is choppy too. I made sure I was on the beta and latest versions of everything as of last week.. I'll see if any new updates are available and how that works, but I doubt the playback is any better..

I can't seem to find Hulu with the new version on ATV.

I'm pretty sure it's just set up different now, so instead of searching Hulu, you can search any show you'd normally watch on Hulu. Then Boxee picks which is the best source (which may be Hulu).
