iPad keyboard dock, power adapter delayed until May

Earlier today, Apple pushed back the availability of some iPad accessories, per Electronista; namely, the iPad Keyboard Dock and the 10W USB Power Adapter. Additionally, the Apple-branded iPad case won't ship until mid-April.

Which Apple accessories will be available when the Wi-Fi iPad ships? The non-keyboard dock and the Dock Connector To VGA Adapter. There's still no word on the much-anticipated camera connection kit.

As with the iPhone and the iPod before it, a cottage industry of accessories is rapidly growing around the iPad. We saw some cool cases at Macworld Expo, another that looks an awful lot like a plastic bag, a vest with a huge pocket, several bags and a scarf. Notable accessory manufacturers Griffin and Belkin have also announced their initial offerings.

They're mostly cases for now, but it won't be long before we see something like this.

Before we went and picked up all those iPad-specific accessories, we thought we would look around and see what could double as a stand, case, etc...

The surprising thing was our 4-year old Stowaway Folding keyboard for our Blackberry (which we never used) worked great!

How can a big worldwide company like Apple run out of stuff, I mean it's three weeks left to the drop date. I mean why can't they just produce some more, shoulden't be that hard, or am I wrong? And why didn't they count on iPad being this popular??

Checked my order (made at 7:31 a.m. CST on the 12th) and it shows:
iPAD WI-FI 64GB-USA
Ships: DELIVERS ON 4/3

IPAD CASE-ZML
Ships: BY APRIL 3RD

So I don't know if that means that I won't get the case at the same time, or on separate delivery dates. As long as I get the iPad, the case can wait.

If you are looking for that kind of functionality I would think you would go with the plain dock and bluetooth keyboard instead, I'm pretty sure that the keyboard dock is attached.

Does anyone know if the keyboard dock is able to have the dock detached from the keyboard so that it is more streamline for storage in like a computer bag?

I called Apple. The Pre-Order people will get their Accessories. There was a limited supply of items. If you pre ordered you are safe.

My order says that the iPad will be delivered by Apr 3, whereas the case will be shipped by Apr 3, so I suppose that this could be roughly accurate. Not a huge deal to me, though, as long as the iPad itself isn't delayed.

Similarly, my keyboard dock still shows shipping on the 15th, and delivery by the 20th. (Which is what the order has shown since being made.)

I agree with other posters here; I think this isn't a pushback, but rather that they've sold out the entire initial supply of some of the accessories.
