@robogobo What machine are you runningthat us allowig Aperture to run smoothly. I'm concidering buying it and I read the tech specs, but I'm still concerned.
I'm running 24" iMac late 2007 2.4Ghz with 4GB ram. I know it should be enough but...
Anyone else that can help me please chime in.
TIA

Have they done anything about the horrible performance? I prefer Apertures UI over Lightrooms but that doesnt matter when Aperture is all "syrup-like" performance wise. (I´m on a 2.5GHz MBP with 4GB of RAM)

yes, most of the problems can be cleared up by running the Library maintenance utilities withing Aperture, and defragging (or just copying to a fresh drive) your Library. Also of course depends on your machine specs. Lots of RAM helps.

There are also reports that referenced masters with the Library stored on a separate drive helps with read/write times.

I'm running Aperture 3 with no issues.

I'm on a 3.5 year old MBP2,2. Intel Core 2 Duo 2.33 with 3GB RAM (system limitation)..

Aperture 2 ran like greased lightning on this system. Aperture 3, not so much.

But at least I'm upgrading to an i7 based iMac in the next month, so I'll live.
