Louis Vuitton selling an iPad case you don't need

Luxist is our luxury-obsessed sister blog here at Weblogs, Inc, and even though I'm just a poor blogger, I still enjoy browsing through their site every day, checking out all of the stuff I don't need and can't buy. Enter the Louis Vuitton iPad case, patterned canvas cases made by the famous French fashion brand that provide a very stylish sleeve for your Apple tablet. I especially like the notches in the top to show off the Home button -- you'd never actually need to press that button without seeing the screen, but I suspect it's there to just show enough of the iPad that you can prove to any onlookers that that's what you're carrying around.

They're $365, which is almost as much as the iPad itself, but as with most luxury items, if you're worried about the price, you probably shouldn't be buying them anyway. Just in case you do have more money than sense, these will go on sale sometime next year. In the meantime, if you need any $400 cases made from felt, we should talk.

...LV products never go on sale...in fact, they go up in price FYI. This case will eventually be more than the iPad itself.

Holy fuck that's ugly. Not for $1. I think the point is to make it as ugly as possible so it really stands out, so it gets people to look, and then you say it was "only" $400 and it makes you sound wealthy. Or more specifically, it makes you feel like you sound wealthy. Feeling wealthy is just as viable a marketing concept as actually being wealthy, even though 100% of people who spend $400 for an ugly LV ipad case will pay for it with a high-interest credit card.

People are so dumb. I swear, if aliens came down and invaded earth with the goal of wiping out the human race, I'd be the first human to join their side.

.the top notches is not to show off the home button. It creates a way for you to take the iPad out.

.Louis Vuiitton is never on sale.

.and yes, if you think $365 Vuitton iPad case is too expensive, then it's not for you.

Do you need an Apple product?

You could put Apple right besides Louis Vuitton for that matter...

Um... this is a fake, kids. LV doesn't yet make an iPad case... I know because I had a client actually ask me for one, and I went to the LV Store directly in NYC. They said they are frequently asked, and have contacted headquarters to be told such a case would be months away - if at all.

Well, a detail that was left out from the linked article is that it's not slated to come out until 2011.

Next time someone says the iPad is too expensive, I will direct them to LV and say are you kidding, its only $134 more than this case!

Hilarious. You just bought the case that Onetrack (commented right below you) bought but for much more money.

I actually like them. Especially that first one. Still too expensive for my taste.
