Making your iPad 3G work in Canada

If today's news about Rogers' rate plans for the iPhone left you feeling a bit cold about your 3G options for an iPad in Canada, perhaps this BoyGeniusReport story will warm you up.

BGR walks you through the steps necessary to make your iPad work with various providers in Canada. As the old saying goes, "Everything is easy when you know what you're doing." BGR has done the hard part for you, including figuring out the various APN settings for different carriers.

The most challenging part of the process will be cutting down a SIM card to (mini) size. There are lots of instructions around to help you but in the end they're your fingers and your card, so be careful.

The instructions cover Bell, Fido, Rogers, and TELUS.

As far as i know the best deal for microsim adapter is at www.microsim2sim.com They offer a great adapter that allows you to use your microSIM with other devices as well as a microsim cutter sticker. Best offer on the market so far and to top it up they offer free delivery! Order another set as a present for my brother.

A week ago bought micro sim adapter from www.gomicrosim.com. Costs only 4.5 EUR. Really worth it. Now use my simcard in both Ipad and Iphone. Should save me lots of pounds, since there is no need to sign for another plan. Highly recommend this seller, his price and delivery options are the best so far.

Just get the wifi version of iPad and jailbreak it and install iBluever on it. You can use bluetooth to tether to your mobile phone.

Why give Steve Jobs the satisfaction.

So does this mean that you can use any other card for any other carrier (once the cards have been pared down) and pay less? Any details on costs with other networks?

I'm surprised that more carriers aren't announcing pricing for iPad-specific plans, since the device can be used with any carrier.

Rogers most likely paid a premium to get exclusive iPad branding for the Canadian launch.
