Grating cheese on a G5
Ah, the once mighty Power Mac G5. It used to be the envy of film editors and art designers everywhere. With a 1.6 GHz CPU, a whopping 256MB of RAM, and an 80GB hard drive, it was once the tower-iest of PC towers.Just seven short years later, it's reduced to grating cheese in some nondescript office environment. Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
Actually it's just the case doing the grating -- you have to admit, with all of those tiny holes for ventilation, the case works pretty well. It does make a mess, though, and there's quite a bit of cheese still left on the unit. It may not be able to run 10.6, but the old G5 will spruce up your salad if you so choose.
Thanks, sivil!

Is this what most people are like? A working computer is seen as old and unfit for purpose any more? One of my computers is a PowerBook G4 from 2005 and even though I could just be done with it and get a MacBook, I still use it, because it still works.

My Power Mac G5 is working just fine. Then again, I'm a repair technician who takes an OCD level of care with it. Doesn't mean I have replaced parts, but for the power I have, it's still much more than a cheese grater for me.
Bah, my dual-quad core can grate cheese MUCH faster than a G5...
