Install Flash on a jailbroken iPad, if you really want to
Well, if the video above doesn't prove to you how compelling Flash on the iPad can be, nothing will. Yes, the inevitable happened and Comex got Flash working on an jailbroken iPad. We all knew this was technically possible, but clearly Apple doesn't feel that Flash's performance on their mobile devices warrants full support. Whether it is battery or multitasking or whatever, Flash isn't allowed and we don't think it will be allowed any time soon (10.1 notwithstanding).
Nevertheless, if you're in the iPad jailbreaking set, go ahead and give it a try; Engadget has the how-to. You're missing out on all those crazy dancing skeletons and laughing babies. As you can see in the video you'll want to break out that Bluetooth keyboard to enjoy the full spectrum of the Flash web, as touch events aren't always analogous to mouse clicks and controls for games often require basic arrow key functionality.

Here's a thought?
I followed the instructions to get flash on my iPad and it works. Once I started browsing web pages I noticed the only thing I was missing from the webpages before installing flash was the ads. So this got me thinking that it is very possible that Apple is choosing not to support flash not really because flash "is a resource hog" but because Apple wants to take over how ads are displayed on the web so that it can profit from that. All that Apple has to do is to convince/force developers to use their product, iAd.
What do y'all think? It's possible right?
Anyone know if there is a way to run Java on the iPad. My online classes use Java.

On some cases for me, I love the iPad but have an issue with online banking via bankofamerica as their safe pass security system is 100% flash. Trying frash, I was in hope for a problem solver but instead got an error but tis only the beginning. If this frash matures there could be some good coming out of it, even video support would boost performance by a landslide even with the bugs.
On the other side I was able to finally at least track my dominos order on the real desktop version of the website, and visit NBA website with all the flashy animations exchanging json errors for advertisements. Keep up the good work, and for the users with no contribution other than negative feedback just have patience.
Kind regards.
Ironically, as I was watching the flash video in Safari 5 on my MacBook the flash plugin crashed....
July 08 2010 at 4:13 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYa, safari sucks. I watched it in Firefox and no crash... in fact, I've never had flash crash my mac. Flash 9 was really slow on my mac (but not pc), although flash player 10.1 is fast on mac.

Enjoy your phones that don't work as phones and your internet appliances that can't access 50% of the web's content. Meanwhile, Android is on track to overtake the iOS platform because normal people (i.e. those not caught up in the Jobs cult of personality) actually LIKE choice and hate corporate politics.
On the iPad the Bove Video now triez to Be loaded in Flash on my iPad so i can't Watch it anymore, Ducks! I also got 3 Error Messages in the 3 games i tried.

July 08 2010 at 1:35 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIf you are using 3G, Hulu would likely be blocked anyway, because of the deal that AT&T has with TV providers and such.
If not, there is Hulu Plus. Out there, right now.
The one and only reason I'd bother to install it, because their app sucks so much.
July 08 2010 at 1:37 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOkay, I've said all along that I have no use for Flash on my devices, but I have to say, this video totally convinced me. I had no idea there was a pull my finger flash app out there! I must have it!!!!
*sigh*
I like all of the apologies along the way... "this doesn't work because of whatever" "sound went somewhere" and so on...
it took adobe more than three years to get to this point and it's still something to be apologized for and wonky...
no wonder apple doesn't support it because it sounds like an albatross on many levels. It would be interesting to see what it really does to battery life on an ipad that isn't plugged in, but none of the posted videos show that yet.
