Wrap your iPhone 4 in Swarovski crystals

Now that Apple has all but confirmed that the iPhone 4 needs a case to work correctly, you might as well go as over-the-top as possible, right? Enter this Swarovski crystal case from Caze -- over 1500 Swarovski glass crystals covering every part of the iPhone's sides and back, encircling your handset in garish, diamond-like ... erm ... luxury? Just in case the classic silver version above isn't flashy enough for you, the case is also available in Gold, Blue, or Pink. And if you so choose, you can even get a free crystal Apple logo along with your purchase.

Sheesh. I can't say I'd want my iPhone looking like that, but each to his or her own, I guess. And wait for the price: the case will set you back a full $199 plus shipping and tax. In other words, probably the same thing you paid for the 16gb iPhone underneath it. If you've got an extra $200 sitting around and want to make your iPhone extra shiny, I'm sure Caze will happily help you out.

It doesn't matter WHAT device they do this to, its a grossly expensive waste of resources and completely pointless. Plus, owning one just makes you look like a rich douchebag in my opinion.

Well, that's an expensive way to fix the problem.

Is it just me or is Swarovski just cheap, crappy, overpriced glass glued to some tin-plated baubles with crazy mark-ups that half-witted Hollywood wannabe starlets can't live without?

I preordered the phone so I had it before it was launched! I never had a problem with the phone. This is actually my very first iphone! I have been very pleased with it so far!!!! As a girly girl I'm diggin the cases:) I just want cases to protect the phone, so why not be flashy about it?

I think Mike is still bitter about not getting a new phone on day one, cos "apple made him wait in line for 4 hours".

"Now that Apple has all but confirmed that the iPhone 4 needs a case to work correctly"

You were watching the same PR event as the rest of us, right? It wasn't confirmed eitherway that a case is required. Apple just said they were giving them out, something done in my eyes as an act of appeasement.

I've owned one since a few days after launch, no case has touched it yet and lo and behold It works fine, so you may want to re-word your opening gambit.

Yes, I'm grabbing a case when they are available, assuming they have some I like, but this is more due to the fact they are 1. Free and 2. Offer some slightly increased degree of protection from damage than having a naked phone.

As I mentioned, I've also had no issues with mine and I have to really try (cuffing it and gripping it like a grenade) in a weak signal area to get the signal to drop. Aka, it hasn't affected me at all in real-world situations, and I have yet to drop any calls.

I did just recently get a case, but that's because I've ALWAYS kept my iPhone in a case. I've had it in one since I had my first 3G. I noticed too that many people I see in my local area keep their 3G/3GS in a case to begin with and I never saw the iPhone 4 being any different.
