RocketBoy offers blam blam blam fun

RocketBoy 2D from PowPowGames (great and appropriate name!) is a bloody, graphic side-scroller shooter game for the iPhone. It's also amazingly well realized with a strong design aesthetic that's sure to please both visually and through its sound design. The graphic designer did a bang-up job (pun reluctantly intended) creating a coherent visual feel that tickled my fancy. Despite its juvenile look, RocketBoy 2D is not for kids. I meant it when I said "bloody". Watch the video.
So how about the game play? RocketBoy is not super complicated. After all, we're not talking rocket science, here. (See what I did just there? hee!) You use the accelerometer to move your player through a field of angry aliens and blast the heck out of them. Blam. Blam. Blamblamblam. For added fun, you can use your rocket to levitate yourself up to shoot higher threats and to jump over ground-based enemies. I thought it was a gas.

If you like shooting things and you like blood, RocketBoy offers simple shoot-em-up sublimation of your inner frustrations. It costs a buck -- a lot cheaper than a psychotherapist -- and it's fun. If bloody pseudoviolence is not your thing, you'll want to give this one a pass.
