Update: Store's back up. Word is that the Mac Pro has been updated? Oh yeah, check out that 12-core. These are the machines that were announced at the end of July, but they weren't on the store yet -- now they're all showing 7-12 days ship time.

funny how the advertising page of Mac Pro brags "easy-access interior for simple expansion"

STEVE - how come you get user-expandibility when it comes to MP, but not any any other machine? If hard drives were easy to access on the Minis and iMacs too - you'd probably sell twice as many!

I don't buy the difference between pro and consumer - especially when iMacs are screaming fast with quad i7s - plenty fast for video and audio. I replaced my old G5 Pro with an iMac and it runs my studio 5 times better. I also use Minis and iMacs around the house too (family computer, living room media center, slave machines for audio plugins, etc.)

I just wish the cases were designed equally across the lineup with accessibility in mind. It would benefit everyone!

Hard drive and RAM are easy to access for upgrades in everything but the mini.

yeah, nervous about trying it in the new mini! (the old mini wasn't that bad)

but the fact they ship with 5400 rpm drives is SAD!

also, Other World Computing claims the second SSD option in the new iMacs is nearly impossible to put in yourself, unless you order with expensive Apple SSD option - which is an inferior drive.

Apple should not consider it a sin to replace any drives - and batteries for that matter. They would only sell more computers if they designed all their cases this way...

surprised Apple didn't jump on USB3 or Firewire 3200 yet. Next time around I guess.

I know there aren't any peripherals around for these yet, but when Apple puts new connectors on machines, 3rd parties jump on board!
