The Apple Store is down... and back up, with no apparent changes

Everyone's favorite sticky note has appeared on the Apple Store, which is down as of 12 A.M. Eastern. We're not aware of any upcoming products, and the store being down on any day other than Tuesday usually points to maintenance rather than new stuff. That said, we'll keep an eye on it and update if we see anything new when the store comes back up.

As usual, thanks to everyone who tipped us off.

Update: After roughly three hours of downtime, the store is back up with no obvious changes. Looks like it was just a maintenance update after all.

There is a new comparison feature where you can compare different macs. It's a pretty cool interface.

The iMac configuration pages have changed. On the 17" 2.9 i7 you van no longer change yhe graphics card. Default comes with the highest spec graphics cards. Also new layout for customizaton pages. Only changes that I have seen.

Maybe it would be better if you waiting to see if something had changed before reporting that the store was down.

Most pointless "news" article EVER.

BTO options now have groupings. I.e. when doing BTO on a Mac Pro, you have a Hardware section, Pre-installed Software, Service and Support, Accessories, and Promotions collapsible sections.

Feels nicer and more organized that way

Not just a simple maintenance update. Changes to the individual purchase pages with a better grouping of options. A new comparison option has also been added, allowing you to compare all the specs. of up to three different models in one chart.

Oh my lord! Do you guys even hear yourselves??!!

Yeh, I'm an Apple nut too, but common'!

"Apple Store said 'Down For Maintenance" which they happen to say when they add products too (along with any other administrative upgrade or rollout), so how dare they not surprise the world with a new addition?

They purposely do maintenance now so that people like you aren't on the prowl, such that you would be sitting there 23 hours in the day just hitting refresh at http://store.apple.com and you 'caught them slacking'.

Is it only me or does anyone else think that this Apple who-ha is getting way out of control??!!
