Apple hasn't buried the iPod classic yet

Rejoice, ye lovers of magnetic drives and scroll wheels! While Steve announced no updates to the iPod Classic, that doesn't mean it is going anywhere. In fact, it is prominently displayed on the iPod page over at Apple.com. So if you're into "retro" tech and you like big capacities and thick gadgets, you can still grab one of the hard drive-based multitaskers for US$249.

Apple should make the iOS running properly on the iPod (Old Generations). And Apple should find a way to get rid of iPod classic. For the small, iPod shuffle and Nano is good. For the big one, iPod touch is good enough to enjoy music, video, and more apps. iPod classic is not so attractive.

I love the design of the iPod Classic and it will be sad to see it eventually fade away. I wish there was an app that would emulate the experience of the click wheel and smaller screen of the iPod Classic on an iPod Touch or iPhone.

The Shuffle has buttons, not a click wheel.

It's sad to see the classic go. It will be the last of the click wheel iPod's, and the last iPod that retains the same look as the original. It's the end of an era. Scrolling is out, touching is in. If you go to apple.com/pr and look at the press images, under the iPod nano classic and touch, there is a picture off the iPod lineup. The classic is not included. That means it's as well as gone. :(

It's time to let the thing just die. 64gb should be plenty, and if it's not then maybe you need to stop stealing music and maybe get rid of some of the stuff you've got.

Does the iPod classic still charge over firewire? I have an older Alpine car stereo with iPod connector and am wondering if it'll work with it. 160GB sure would be nice in my car.

I love my iPod classic. I use it for music much more than my iPhone. It holds every song I own, it is durable, can be used as a portable HD, shows movies and has great battery life.

Of course, that $250 price is too high.

I have a 120 GB Classic that i use everyday. I have all my music, movies, etc. on it. But I mostly use it for tons of video podcasts. That is the only reason I bought it really. I could get the Classic fairly cheap and it holds all of my Podcasts (mostly Video Podcasts).

WHO CARES !!!!!!!

It has less features than Nano or iTouch/iPhone.

Sure it has huge capacity, but at the cost of being huge. It's almost the same size as a cellular phone from the 1980's or the original Game Boy. I wouldn't call it portable by any means.

I can hold my Ipod nano 5G, Cell phone, and Nintendo DS Lite in a single jeans pocket, or one ipod classic. Seems like a foolish thing to carry around.

The iPod classic was cool back 10 years ago, now its a relic like LAN Lines or typewriters.
