Carry more iPad data with you, using HyperDrive
No matter what size iPad or other portable device you get, many times it seems that you're going to hit that storage limit and find yourself aching for more space. The HyperDrive may not fix that problem for you, but it may be handy in certain circumstances.Using the portable HyperDrive and the iPad Camera Connection Kit, one can transfer movies and photos onto the iPad from either the HyperDrive's internal storage or via memory cards attached to it. Since the iPad only allows attached storage of 32GB or less, the HyperDrive sections off its on-board storage into 32GB "folders," each of which is viewable using the iPad Photos application.
It's definitely a hacky way to go about transferring data to your iPad while on the go, but at least it doesn't require jailbreaking to use (if that's a concern of yours). The usefulness of the HyperDrive seems rather limited, though, as it's not able to transfer data off of your iPad, only onto it.
The HyperDrive comes in 120GB up to 750GB models, starting at US$299.

or you could just use iFile ;)
I psent 3 months in Thailand with my ipad, cam connecter and some SD cards
I filled the SD cards (2x16gb and 1x32gb) with movies n the like, I left pad empty
I then filled pad over time with photos from my adventures.
when I wanted to watch movies I just hooked an SD card to pad and used iFile to view them...I even watched iTunes videos by transferring the movie to the "purchases" folder, making the videos show up in Apples "video" app.
as I watched and deleted the SD cards were free'd up for my travel pics and also for me to download new stuff at hostel PCs and add them to the SD cards!
simples.
Ah, ZumoCast will allow me to carry MUCH more than that! I just started using it and I have access to ALL of my files without carrying any other devices. Too much cloud storage available for this device to be necessary. Dropbox, Box.net and now ZumoCast makes that device totally unnecessary!

iPad's come in 16, 32 and 64GB varieties.
That is very funny. I read your article like you were talking about physical size, not memory.

$250 for the HyperDrive casing only is a bit steep, then you have to pay for a 2.5" HD.
Easier just to connect my low-power card reader with several CF/SD cards to the USB adapter or SD cards to the SD adapter.
Format the card in a digital camera, remove and mount on Mac desktop, create a new folder at root level and name it DCIM -- put all your images and video files in there and the iPad will read and copy them. Video app won't see the video files but iPod app will.
Umm ... why not just use DropBox or something to that effect.
