Apple spawns new accessory line: nano watch straps

The success of the iPods, iPhone and iPad have been a boon for Apple and accessory makers. Shortly after each product's introduction, a small but highly competitive cottage industry of cases, sleeves, stands and so on emerges. Now, the new iPod nano's unique design has many manufacturers thinking the same thing: wristwatch.

The nano is small, light, square-ish and features a touch screen. When popped into a strap accessory like the Linq by Incipio, it looks good! The Linq will be available in five colors when released (grey, black, pink, blue and white), though a release date and pricing information are unavailable as of this writing.

It looks nice and the iPod seems well-protected, but I wouldn't want a wire going from my wrist to my ears all day. But that's just me.

Nice little article. When Steve first announce that the new nano would have a built in watch, we decided to go design a strap. We are just a tiny little company based in Copenhagen, Denmark and we haven't got that much publicity, but I really think that you should go check us out, if you like the idea. www.nanowatch.dk

I am digging on the Fossil straps - blog.fossil.com/?p=2730

They have a pretty good selection of quality straps. These are military grade and basically indestructible which is required if I am wearing it. Looks awesome.

I actually got a band from www.watchmynano.com and it is awesome. I plug my Bose headphones in and I can move around fine with it. I have jogged on the treadmill with it on. I love it.

I guess Apple is copying another idea again:

The product to make is a strap with Bluetooth built in. I've seen VERY small USB Blue tooth dongles so a small unit that would plug into the dock connector or in worse case just into the audio jack, had it's own rechargeable battery would work. The best would be a Bluetooth transmitter that would be inline with the dock connector so when you docked it it would charge both. It would always be too big though.

One of these sort of straps would be perfect for holding the Nano whilst at the gym or jogging or other forms of excercise.

Looks better and is more straightforward (of course if you had the tools and even a smidgen of leathercraft experience you could make one too).

If the nano had bluetooth headphone support I could go wireless like with my iphone and ipad - but such is life.

This seems hokey at best.

Bluetooth, camera, GPS cannot be expected in such a small device. The deal killer for me is no internal speaker. Not going to jam to tunes to it, but it could at least chime a sound with the time or play music to wake you up, anything.
