Have some Black Walnut with your Apple Wireless Keyboard
Personally, I consider Apple's Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard to be one of the sexiest input devices around. I've even replaced my Logitech DiNovo Edge (you may recall seeing it before) with one. Now, Combine Collective has upped the ante with a peripheral for your peripheral, which -- in the right surroundings -- is guaranteed to make this classy keyboard even classier.
These carved Black Walnut keyboard trays come in three flavors, each holding a different combination of wireless devices. The largest holds your Apple Wireless Keyboard, Apple Remote, and Magic Trackpad, all sheathed in smooth, dark wood. In a cubicle with bad carpet, it might stand out like an eyesore, but on the right desk... well, I probably get more excited than I should about interior decoration. Still, I want one.
The prices are probably what you'd expect for executive-office-looking wares: US$69 for the small (Wireless Keyboard only), $74 for the medium (keyboard and Magic Trackpad), and $79 for the aforementioned large version. Feeling extravagant? Wander on over to the Combine Collective site.

No laptop keyboard on my desktop. no thank you.
September 20 2010 at 10:07 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replybad idea putting the remote between the keyboard and trackpad. the distance between the mouse and keyboard should be as small as possible.
September 19 2010 at 8:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy? I don't keep my mouse pad pressed up against my keyboard. I have a wired Apple keyboard, so not counting the numeric key pad it's the same size as the wireless one. If you remove the numeric pad, there is a gap of about six inches between the keyboard and my mouse pad, which is where I would put a track pad if I got one.
If anything, I would want a little more space than they're providing, to more closely match the width of my shoulders, which is naturally where my arms are.
I think this will make a nice winter woodworking project -- will have to dig the small router out...
September 19 2010 at 7:30 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Reply$20 shipping for 2lbs? No thanks...
September 19 2010 at 12:09 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyit looks like this company is Canadian. For some reason shipping from Canada starts at $20. I looked at buying some gaming supplies and shipping was $20 as well. It's odd that Canadian shipping is so much when 80% of the population is 200 miles from the US border... it shouldn't be any more expensive than in the USA with NAFTA and all.

Order number fifteen? Does that really mean fifteen?
Man, I hope that I can use the trackpad in the tray and it's not just a holder for storage...
This is great, perfect for my HTPC mac mini....just ordered one....wish that apple had actually provided a combined magic track/keyboard, the wood provides a nice accent. Hope that the one I get looks as great as the one in the photos!

September 18 2010 at 5:47 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThey have a statement on their website saying to contact them about left handed versions.

September 18 2010 at 7:37 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyA neat solution if you have these devices as part of your HTPC. (like me perhaps)
September 18 2010 at 4:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI would love my wireless keyboard, if it was the same as my wired keyboard - that is, with a numeric keypad.
My wireless version just sits in the cupboard. I tried it and missed the number pad too much when working with spreadsheets etc.
Not sure I understand why we have to give up the numeric keypad to have wireless.
