Apple TV pre-orders ready to ship
We've received a number of tips this morning from readers who say that their credit cards are being charged for pre-ordered Apple TVs. That generally means that they're about to ship. Customers tell us that the charges began to show up overnight and into this morning.The online Apple Store still lists the shipping time as 2-3 weeks. I haven't ordered one myself, but the Netflix feature alone makes it very tempting. Start looking for yours soon.
In the meantime, consider grabbing a package tracking app and follow your new toy's journey.

Mine shipped days ago. I ordered the day after the keynote. Estimated delivery on Monday. Did I just get lucky or something? My card number happened to change between the time I ordered and the time it shipped so I got an email when they tried to charge it and had to update it. Maybe that scored me some personal attention or something ;)

I saw some poorly written blog claiming that those who ordered after the keynote with priority shipping got delay notices from Apple, while those who ordered with standard shipping have been left in the dark.
(I ordered after the keynote but with standard shipping. Guess I'm not "cool" enough to be notified. qq)
Mine still says shipping september :)
However, instead of downloading and app and then opening it and checking the status, why not just have UPS/FedEx email you as it makes it journey, much easier
When I first ordered it, a charge for it showed up on my bank account, then disappeared. Did this happen to everybody? As of now, the apple store says ships september, but no charge of the amount of the apple tv

What's awesome about the LG is that not only can it "see" my macbookpro via wifi, but it also attaches to my airport express disk.
It plays mp4's, divx, mkv, mpg, and also has netflix, pandora, youtube and picassa access - all work very well. I did have to update the firmware and reset right out of the box though.
I am curious how the new Apple TV will stack up against the LG. The LG was about $160 but is a bluray player as well. I am very impressed with it so far.
The network access to my MBP and airport express disk is amazing. If I am not mistaken, with the ATV 2.0 I will need to convert all vids to MP4 & then load them into itunes to be able to stream them?
With the LG, I can just access them anywhere on the shared volume.
I also ordered directly after the keynote. Still says "Ships September" and "Not Yet Shipped" but I can confirm that I was charged for it last night. Hopefully it will be shipping soon.
