TUAW's Daily App: Awesome Solitaire
Awesome Solitaire is (surprise!) an awesome solitaire game. The usual card game is so simple by now that presentation is everything, and Awesome Solitaire has presentation in spades. If you play in Awesome mode, the graphics are flashy, you get rewarded with points for combos, and the animation looks smooth and professional. Heck, the background is even animated with the accelerometer. My one argument is that there's no sound on the app at all -- as flashy and smooth as the graphics are, you'd think there would be some sparkling sounds to accompany them. But then again, I often turn the sounds on my phone down (especially in public), so the lack of sound on a pick up and play game like this doesn't hurt too much.This is the absolute coolest version of solitaire you will ever play on your iPhone. There aren't a lot of actual game options (there are lots of other versions if you want a little variety), but if you just want to sit back and move solitaire cards around, this is the way to do it.
Oh, and one more thing: the app is free through the weekend. You really have no excuses at all -- go on over to the App Store and download this one.

Downloaded it, but don't like the card faces. Seemed very cheap and doesn't have the right feel for someone who plays with real cards. Doesn't landscape either Not awesome at all for me. I'm sticking with Klondike.

Solitaire City (universal) has excellent graphics, but the cards are a bit too small and clumped together.
Solitaire Forever (I played the Ma version quite a bit) looks bad on the iPad. Like the graphics were just made bigger and jaggier.
I just downloaded this game to make sure, but it is as awful as it looks, just as bland and generic as any other solitaire game. The best solitaire game for the iPhone by far is Solitaire Forever, with incredible graphics and over one hundred different games (although I hardly ever play anything besides Klondike). The only thing this has over Solitaire Forever is that it is free while the better app is $5.99, but it isn't hard to find a much better free app (such as Klondike Forever, the free version of Solitaire Forever).

That's some recommendation!
One fairly important aspect is that Solebon costs one hundred and ninety-nine more pennies than this Awesome one.
Folks should also try out some of the html5 versions, for example: http://justsolitaire.com/Klondike_Solitaire/ (nice on iPhone) and http://worldofsolitaire.com/ (nice elsewhere)
Just tried it. I like it, very different and its free. I probably would not pay for it though. I'll have to try this Solebon that you guys are talking about. It's always good to have a decent solitaire game on hand.

First app I ever bought, and definitely the most used. I especially love all the dozens of different games included.
I like app reveiws and recommendations, but the apps need to be of exceptional quality etc if you're doing this on TUAW in my opinion.. otherwise if I want reviews I can go to a generic app review website or use iTunes.
