Dev-Team: Apple TV jailbreak exploit found
Members of the iPhone Dev Team have dropped hints on Twitter that it will be possible to jailbreak the new Apple TV. Team members pod2g and iphone_dev have both mentioned that the SHAtter exploit has been able to decrypt the Apple TV firmware's keys. While Apple TVs are not yet in people's hands, the firmware is available from Apple's public distribution servers.Team Member MuscleNerd also warned potential jailbreakers via Twitter: "Those interested in *potential* AppleTV JBs, better buy early! Remember iPhone 3GS hardware was updated to fix JB hole." Indeed, Apple has already released a firmware update for the Apple TV, though we don't know if it addresses this exploit.

Does anyone have a guess or knowledge as to whether or not Apple TV will support Bluetooth? I can envision the future possibility of getting Angry Birds HD on my forthcoming Apple TV and controlling it with my Magic Trackpad. That would be sweet!!

I interpreted their posts as: they used a new ipod touch (which has the buggy boot ROM) and exploited *it* in order to get the new AppleTV firmware's decryption keys.
This *implies* (to me) that the AppleTV could have the same ROM, and could have the same exploitable bug. But, since nobody has actually received an AppleTV (as far as I've heard), I don't think anyone can say for sure what is in the boot ROM.
Just because they used 'a jailbreak' (on a different device) to get the decrypt keys doesn't mean the AppleTV is jailbreak-able (with the same exploit). Time will tell...
(of course, I could have missed an official announcement from the dev team - maybe they *did* say it's jailbreak-able)
the firmware is not an update, its a restore image for what is currently shipping on the apple TV. It wont fix anything ;)
