Logos 4 Mac released
![]()
Logos, a cross-platform Bible study program for Windows, Mac, and iOS, has been updated to version 4. To celebrate, they are offering some great deals on their base packages and upgrades at Logos.com. Students should checkout their academic pricing as well. There's a good overview of new features available on their website, including a list of 100 new features in Logos 4.
Look for a more detailed review after I've had some time to live with the official release. In the meantime, there are a slew of great resources available to show you around on the official website.
Note: off-topic comments will be deleted. If this app (or religion in general) isn't for you, just move along to the next article.

I have Accordance and am happy w/it. I'd like to give Logos a try but to pony $212 for the entry level package is pretty pricey (even with the library that's included). Accordance gets the nod here for ala carte pricing.

It was enough to make me upgrade to a Scholar Package. This might not win a speed contest, but it's reasonably fast. (It runs a bit faster on my PC with similar 2GB RAM and vintage) Beats dashing to the bookshelf and flipping paper. I've gotten mountains of info literally at my fingertips and it's organized for the given purpose. With my library also on Biblia.com too, this is a no-brainer.

Though I must say I love that logos has an iPhone app with soo many titles available on the go, though the app definitely has it's limits.

October 02 2010 at 9:52 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe Bible is certainly free in many, many forms Sebastian. That said, translating the Bible is neither an exact science (one can keep the original meaning intent, while using different words to translate than another translator), nor is the extensive cross referencing, the commentaries, plus quite honestly Logos has hundreds upon hundreds of books in their packages - not just bible translations.
When I'm researching a passage, I refer to many translations. Some (KJV) have rightly fallen into the public domain and cost nothing. Others are actually being worked on, and fall under copyright.
I think Iâm missing something essential here. The Bible is the ultimate example of a creative commons work and while I am thrilled that the Logos iPhone app is free, it seems quite atrocious that theyâre charging money for the rest of their offerings.

October 01 2010 at 3:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySo great to have fair reporting on TUAW! For the thousands and thousands of articles generated to have a microscopic handful like this (and the Accordance one), is like salt sprinkled on a great big plate of food!
I wouldn't have even known to check these two Bible apps out without your heads up to them - im interested to know what you think once you've used Logos 4!
Thanks TUAW and Thanks TJ!
