Rumor: Bumpers coming back to Apple Stores

This also means that bumpers are back on sale. While you could easily get a free one, they disappeared from Apple Store shelves, but as of today, bumpers are reportedly available again. Unfortunately, they're still not for sale online, but presumably that will be fixed soon. Word has it that they're heading back to the US$29 price point, too.
If you're buying an iPhone today or in the future, what are your plans for a case?

Did you miss out on Apple's free case program for your iPhone 4? If so, you're out of luck. If you have reception issues with your iPhone...

I agree with you, the antenna thing is ridiculous. I expect better from an Apple product, plain and simple. Just like you I thought this was all overblown etc, and kinda believed Apple's presentation showing how it's not so bad and only 1% more dropped calls.
Well for me it went from zero (0) dropped calls with my 2G and 3GS to 5, 6 dropped call in the last few weeks. About one per week. I am not trying to make bars drop - I am just using the phone as I normally do.
I did get the free Apple bumpers - they're ugly as sin. Selling them for $30 is a total joke, one can only imagine they did that in order to not compete too hard with the independents. In fact, the sub-par looks might be part of that plan too: "Hmm... we have an issue so we better offer an official solution... but we don't want to take away business from all our 3rd party iPhone case makers... so let's make it ugly and expensive. That should do it!"
Now would I go back to my 3GS? No. I'll live with the case.
I got the incase snap on case. I like it.
The phone without a case is too slippery for me.
I'm gonna get the Otterbox case for the iPhone 4. Expensive but worth the money in the long run.

October 02 2010 at 11:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyQuick question. I ordered an iPhone 4 from the o2 website on the 30th, however it won't be with me till the 4th. Will I still be eligible for the free case?
October 02 2010 at 2:44 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyGot a free bumper, but I don't use it. It's clunky and awkward and the rubberised bits fell totally uncomfortable in my (admittedly sweaty) hands. Plus I feel it detracts from the look of the phone (a deal breaker for me). Add to this the necessity of removing it from the bumper in order to use my old iPhone 1 dock connector, and it makes little sense to use the bumper. I've not had many issues with dropping signal bars anyway. I will
October 02 2010 at 4:38 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI will use the bumper if external conditions require me to (like if I'm out in the field somewhere I'm likely to drop my phone) but otherwise, I'm happy without it.
Also replying on here with said iPhone is extremely awkward if you move up in the paragraph to edit something and then want to return to the end of what you're writing and need to scroll to get there. It doesn't allow it on the iPhone, hence having to reply to myself. Just saying...
I bought an iPhone 4 today, downloaded the free bumper app, ordered a bumper, got the confirmation that it will be sent on Oct 18 for $0.00.
Furthermore, much to my pleasant surprise, I experience no drop in bars whatsoever no matter how I cup the phone in my hand. I must live right next to a tower.
Haven't had a reception problem at all in the Seattle area. Also the University Village store had a TON of bumpers in today, and no AppleTVs.
BTW, as usual, GFY Jordan, get a life you pathetic troll.
The rumor is true. I picked up a white bumper at the Oak Book, IL store.
