Mirror's Edge coming to the Mac later this year

A mobile version of the first-person platform game Mirror's Edge is already available for the iPad and iPhone, but the original version hasn't made it to the Mac... yet. Court documents from a lawsuit filed against Electronic Arts by Edge Games state that "a Mac version of the original 'Mirror's Edge' video game is currently under development and is slated for release later this year."

Mirror's Edge has been available for the Xbox 360 and PS3 for almost two years now, and the Windows version came out in January of 2009. Like Portal and a few other high-profile games that have recently released for the Mac, the availability of Mirror's Edge for OS X is definitely a case of "better late than never." Having recently played through the iPhone version of the game, I'll be curious to see how it runs on the Mac... as long as the price is right for a game that's been available on other platforms for so long.

Mirror's Edge is still my favorite game ever despite coming out two years ago.

I will be glad to be able to play it on a mac.

The iPhone version, while nice, does not live up to the experience the full game offers. Watch a few videos on YouTube.

I like. Actually, I love. :D

Given that :
a) all macs can run windows
b) OSX is a tiny percentage of the OS market globally (the US isn't the world)

why on earth WOULD a developer release an OSX version?

Three reasons.

1. $
2. $$
3. $$$

Despite the fact that it's a 2 year old game, I bought it on steam a while ago for PC and got too busy to finish it, I hope it covers a Mac license like valve games do, then I'll actually complete the thing

Effing eff this trend. Another game to come to the Mac 2+ years after it's initial release. Why even post about this? It's an embarrassment to OSX gaming.

2 years late, while lame, is way better than the standard infinity years late.

I'm a patient person, I don't have to have the latest anything the moment it comes out. I can wait for the game industry to distill it's best and only put effort behind a game for the Mac if it's been tested out.

However, I remember the promise EA made years ago at the WWDC about their commitment to Mac gaming. It's about time they started following through.

I for one am very excited by this news, and will be setting aside money for this particular title when it comes out.

I think if studios actually put out a PC and Mac version at about the same time (like Blizard usually does) then they would realize profits but as it stands now if you are an avid gamer of more than just consoles/mobile then you need a PC plain and simple.

As it stands today Mac Gaming is about as paradoxical as Jumbo Shrimp.

Uh, there is nothing paradoxical about Jumbo Shrimp. They are just big shrimp you see. What is the paradox?
Ok, just a little dig there. It's "oxy-moronic".

Or you could get it working with Cider like I did days ago. Here is the link. http://portingteam.com/2010/09/port-of-the-week-21-mirrors-edge/
It runs ok on my 13" macbook pro. Need a heftier graphics card though. This port is flawless though.

Oh how exciting. Another 2 year old game coming to the Mac.

zzzzzzzzz.

Sorry, I'm just a bit frustrated with how slowly top tier games have been making their way to Mac. We *just* got Left 4 Dead 2 earlier this week. At this point, most of my PC friends have already moved on to something else.

If Mac users don't buy these games when they do finally come out, though, it'll reinforce the perception that porting games to the Mac just isn't worth the time and money, and we'll start seeing less of this again. Vicious cycle.
