TUAW's Daily App: Game Dev Story

It's incredible fun, and the great chiptunes and graphics bring a lot to the table. There's a wild sense of humor in the mix here, too. New consoles are released into the market, a video game magazine comes every month, and you slowly build up your own studio's fanbase.
Game Dev Story is a ton of fun! It's somewhat pricey at US$3.99, but honestly, if you're a fan of the game industry at all (there's even a fake E3 where you can promote your games!), you'll find a lot of joy in this one. It's a very, very cool title.

Man, I love everything about Game Dev Story -- from the excellent premise to the cute, pixelated aesthetic to the great simulation...

You know what's sad? I work at a game company, and during today's standup meeting I was playing Game Dev Story, making a "Game Co." genre game... I like to think that inside those pixels one of those programmers is actually playing that game and making yet another Game Company game.
Yes, very fun game. And to answer someone's earlier question, no these are not retina display graphics. They're barely old display graphics :P. There's no tilting, and honestly feels like it was built with portability to other devices in mind (NDS, other phones, etc).
STILL GOOD. Please look beyond the (still high quality) pixelated graphics.
Finally a game with a similiar concept to GameBiz!
I tried it and I must say I like the graphic style used.
This will sustain me until GameBiz 3's launch.
Thanks TUAW for ruining my life. There will be hours wasted on this game for me. Well worth my $3.99. Excellent game.

October 15 2010 at 9:57 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyOh god. This sucked away all my time when I heard about it. Highly addicting and way more deep in gameplay than most iPhone games that get released.
