Stun Fone iPhone accessory: YouTube spoof or real product?

Thanks to TUAW reader Adam, I was pointed in the direction of YouTube a few minutes ago to watch a video of a purported stun gun accessory for iPhone 3 / 3GS / 4. While I'm 99.9 percent certain that this is a spoof, the other .1 percent is wishing that the US$24.99 Stun Fone was actually available for sale. It would be so handy for those situations where someone cuts in a line ahead of me...

A little research on Amazon showed that stun guns are readily available at about this price, so setting one up to be triggered by a press of the volume buttons on an iPhone isn't exactly out of the realm of reality. It would probably also require something other than the iPhone's battery to charge it up.

To Jeff and his roommate, the "inventors" -- if this sucker is for real, we here at TUAW will be happy to put a review unit through its paces. Just let us know.

Video (slightly NSFW) is on the next page.

Uh, discharging 10kV near a phone containing delicate electronics? Bad idea, and definitely voids your warranty.

However, the ad is FAKE: you click on the link to purchase (check-out), and it takes you to an ad agency (Stun Creative, the agency that presumably created the wanna-be viral marketing campaign).

Spam, pure and simple. You guys was hood-winked.... Check your facts before passing along this crap.

It's not easy to push both buttons at the same time on my 3GS. And when you must absolutely get it right the first time without fiddling with the phone or holding it a certain way, it's useless.

I say fake for the simple reason that the iPhone 3G and 3GS use a
rocker switch for the volume... you can't press both volume buttons at
the same time.

Definitely fake, although it does look real. When he shocks his buddy, you can clearly see that he doesn't actually touch him. Not to mention that tazing somebody in public unprovoked is considered assault (the girlfriend incident at the end).

FWIW, Apple wouldn't approve an app that modifies the functionality of the hardware buttons.

Oh wait, it wouldn't need an app. The dock coonector could just interpret the up/down buttons and apply the stun as needed.
