Gorillamobile revised for iPhone 4

Gorillamobile for iPhone 4
The other day I was editing some very shaky video taken with an iPhone 4, and I suggested that the owner pick up a tripod -- so this is pretty good timing. Made just for the iPhone 4, JOBY designed the new Gorillamobile with an included bumper case (which stays on your iPhone) that slides into a rail attachment on the tripod itself. The rails work in both portrait and landscape modes, and they don't add any more weight to the phone than a regular case. Seriously, if you are going to take video for more than a few seconds, do your viewers a favor and pick up a tripod; they will thank you for it later. And if you never got your free bumper case from Apple, this may be a good way to pick up a case AND a new tripod for US$39.95. Click "Read More" to check out a video of the Gorillamobile.

or...

you could just superglue a 1/4-20 nut to an office butterfly clip and put it on top of any existing tripod.

total cost: maybe 50 cents if you have to buy the parts, but chances are you've got them lying about.

the black clips you use to bind a sheaf of papers together if they're too big for a paper clip. the smallest size doesn't work, but a medium size is great.

and no, it hasn't damaged my iPhone 4 in many hours of use.

I was impressed with the 3G/3GS version but this looks better. On the 3G/3GS version the tripod attaches to the centre of the iPhone limiting the angle of adjustment possible and adding bulk to case - still it was a good product. unfortunately one of my links cracked and now is a little loose.

Still it does great service as a iPhone stand when watching iPlayer in bed or as a desktop "dock".
