Headrest mount for iPad by ViewSticks

ViewSticks iPad Mount

Hitting the road this holiday season with the kids? Already have a back seat mount for your iPhone but not for your iPad? You may want to check out this iPad Headrest Mount from ViewSticks. The mount attaches to the back of the front seat headrests and turns your iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone into an entertainment system for the car. Easily removable to store or move into another car, the iPad Headrest Mount kit consists of 2 metal stands, 4 rubber bands, 2 suction cups, and 1 Storage Bag and is available now for US$19.95. BMW recently announced their own iPad integration that doesn't look any better than this solution -- and I imagine it's a lot more than $20.

Granted, passengers could just hold their tablets or smartphones in their hands, but who wants to do that for the 6 hour trek to Grandma's house? Considering that all I got on long trips with my parents was a coloring book and a healthy dose of "you kids stop fighting and stay on your own sides," I would have loved it if my parents had hooked up iPads for us to pass the time with.

Love the idea! I've got an iPod touch and wanted to keep the kids quiet in the back of the car on journeys. I found this solution: iRESTA Ipod touch headrest mount. Brilliant!

The screen is big enough for the kids to watch their videos and loud enough that they can hear it in the back without being to distracting in the front of the car (I sometimes make them put headphones in though!)

I toyed with getting an incar DVD player - but all the wires and expense, why bother! The elastic strap keeps it secure and the ipod touch simply clicks in to the case making it easy to add/remove.

The iPod charge lasts 2-3 hours so more than long enough for most journeys - although we're lucky enough to have a car charger between the front seats, so infinite peace once it's plugged in!!

I got mine from http://www.gizoo.co.uk/Products/TravelLeisure/Travel/iResta.htm in the UK.

Perfect!... As long as you only have one kid.

My two would be fighting over who sits in the seat directly behind. not to mention the speakers being so close to my head while driving.

So, apart from the squabbling kids and Toy Story blaring in my ears, it's PERFECT!

Although, sticking to my current solution of having a dual headphone out and resting the iPad on it's 'kick stand' case on the centre 'console' in the back seat is a lot more versatile. Not to mention cheaper as you don't have to buy an extra mount.

(For those of you worried about me sticking headphones on kids - It's closely monitored for volume levels and only used as a treat to watch ONE movie only. The rest of the time, we sit there as a family, and enjoy the beautiful NZ scenery!)

G'day.

Back of headrest but not directly in line with the rear passenger's vision. These things are too damn high so only suitable for watching video, not for keeping the arm raised while you shoot down aliens.
