Animated wallpaper running on a jailbroken iPad

My buddy runs an animated background on his Android phone (which makes it impossible for me to find the app I want, personally), but he seems to like the look of it. His battery life definitely suffers though, and while the iPad definitely has decent battery life, I would think this hack would cut it down significantly. If you want to do it anyway (and have a jailbroken iPad), you can get vWallpaper from the danstaface repo.

Hey guys! This is my video. I didn't realize how popular it would get. That's really cool. I've been using vWallpaper on my iPhone 4 and decided that I wanted it on my iPad.
I realize that this has been done to death, but not on the iPad. I will be uploading other videos and linking to the files for vWallpaper if you're interested.
Thanks for watching!

I tried vWallpapers on my iPod touch a while back, but uninstalled it almost immediately. useless. I just installed Parallax, which gives me panoramic wallpapers that scroll with the page. it's awesome.

It amuses me that sites such as this one continue to cover the lame things that jailbroken devices can do, simply because the general population just doesn't care.
Again TUAW? Many of us live flash-free. Why aren't you wrapping your videos in HTML5 yet?
November 30 2010 at 6:53 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIt's a YouTube video, TUAW didn't upload it... If you're on an iOS device, you should be able to watch it without Flash via the built-in YouTube webplugin.
December 02 2010 at 8:46 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyIve been using vwallpaper on my iphone 4 for a couple days now with no real drain on my battery. Its at 73% battery life after a 9 hour workday. No slowdown on IOS either.
November 30 2010 at 6:01 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyexactly. The wallpaper runs as long as one stays at the menu screen so the battery drain is minimal (unless someone likes staring into idle menu screens for a long time)
November 30 2010 at 6:40 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnimated wallpapers fall into the category of things that shouldn't necessarily be done just because they can.
November 30 2010 at 5:55 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnimated wallpapers have been available for jailbroken iOS devices since 2008 with WinterBoard. This is just a new method.
November 30 2010 at 5:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm pretty sure vWallpaper has been around too, anyways.
