Radio Shack offers iPhone at big discount

Just in time for your Christmas shopping, "The Shack" is offering the iPhone 4 at an incredibly nice discount.

The deal is this -- you can buy a 16GB iPhone 4 for just $149, which is $50 off the price that you'll find at Apple or AT&T stores, and much better than even picking one up at your local Walmart. That price, of course, requires a minimum 2-year commitment to an AT&T plan.

The 32GB iPhone 4 is similarly priced at $249, and an 8GB iPhone 3GS is an absolute steal at $49. In addition, if you have a working and non-damaged iPhone 3G, you can get a $75 trade-in credit. A 3GS will get you a whopping $125 trade-in.

You can only get this deal by walking into a Radio Shack location, and this is only good through Saturday, December 11. Grab that old 3GS and get movin' to "The Shack" before it's too late.

You can upgrade, if eligible through AT&T, by trading in your current 3Gs iPhone for a new iPhone 4 for only $25 (after all the discounts)! But, they also add tax. Not the sales tax of the $25 discounted iPhone, but the sale tax of the iPhone's retail price, which is $599. That's $58.40 (9.75% in my area) plus the $25 for the iPhone. So the bottom line is that, if you're eligible, you can get the 16GB iPhone 4, by trading in your 3Gs (in good condition), with a new two-year contract, for about $83. Still a pretty good deal. Just wish some of these news reports would mention this tax of the retail price they're including. It's good to know the WHOLE truth on so-called "good deals".

You all crazy to fall for that trap. You can sell your 3G for $100+ and 3GS for $200+ on craigslist. Why trade them when you can sell?

The first one I checked didn't have any, but luckily there are several within walking distance of my office and the second one had them in stock.

What luck that I caught the story this morning, because I was ready to buy one anyway, probably at AT&T.

Well none of the Radioshacks in Hawaii will honor the trade-in for the iphones. Yet another reason why living in Hawaii sucks.

Those trade in values aren't really that great, considering you can get about $175-$200 for a 3G iphone on ebay, and $300+ for a 3GS.

I just picked one up. You can't be $150, but they only offered me $8 for my 3G.

I just got the last iPhone 4 from my local Radio Shack for $50. Traded in my 3GS for $125. Deal of the year.
