ReTweetie adds legitimate retweeting to Tweetie Mac

One of the biggest frustrations with Tweetie for Mac is the lack of legitimate retweeting to your followers. While it's understandable that the developers have been a tad busy in the past year, it doesn't seem all that unreasonable to at least issue an update to include a very basic Twitter function.

Developer Nick Paulson solved this by writing a plug-in called ReTweetie. The ReTweetie plug-in requires a download of SIMBL, which is a free bundle loader, and the program itself. After relaunching Tweetie for Mac, hit "repost" and enjoy full retweet goodness.

As for Tweetie for Mac itself, development on version 2 was alive and well as of October.

Many thanks to @AndruEdwards!

Yeah, count me in as someone who prefers the old way of RT-ing... I like being able to add my own two cents, and even editing what I'm passing along.

And yet another feature of Echofon that I see others putting in way too late. Echofon has suited all of my iPhone and Mac Twitter needs for quite a while now, and someone is going to have to give me an extra compelling reason to change that at this point in the game.

I'm sorry, I wasn't aware anyone liked the "legitimate" retweet. Just give me the old fashion RT :)

I've just installed this, and it seems to work ok... Except that it doesn't show what I've retweeted in the app itself, you have to go into a browser to check!

I love Tweetie, and am hesitant to abandon it, but I agree with the above comments - there's been no movement in a very long time...

Too little too late. I gave up on Tweetie long ago. It's too bad because it used to be a pretty good Twitter client. Looks like another piece of abandonware now.

Ever since I saw "Weet" (http://aol.it/hOc3HD) I pretty much lost my interest in Tweetie for Mac. It's gone out-of-date for so long, I started looking at alternatives. If version two *ever* comes out, I might pick it up again, but 'til then, I'm done waiting.

Or you could, you know, use a client with native retweeting?
