Do not update.
This fubar'd my wireless network. Downgrading to 7.4.2 right now.
Do a search, this is a common issue now.
Do not update.
You were warned.
I didn't even know AEBS and TC could be used for AirPlay storage for Apple TV. Or does it require a Mac running iTunes (whose library is stored in AEBS or TC)?
December 17 2010 at 3:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThis update worked fine for me, but now Radium seems unable to stream to my AirPort Express. The device sometimes disappears from the Radium pulldown, and even when it's present and selected, I get no output from the AE.
iTunes still works fine.
I've written Radium support, but am also wondering if anyone else has this problem.
I wonder if it's because my Airport Express is not new, but my firmware is on 6.3 and after installing Airport Utility 5.5.2 successfully, it will not find an upgrade. I have tried so many resets and and restoring default settings etc. but it will not find a firmware upgrade.

I have two AirPort Expresses. One is 802.11b/g only, and the other is 802.11n. The update appears to only apply to the 802.11n version - I do not get an upgrade notification when accessing the older device with the updated AirPort utility.
Hope this sheds some light!
@Horo. Thanks, that helps. I have the older 802.11b/g model so it looks like it's confirmed that the update does not show up for that model.

December 17 2010 at 9:36 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyDo they have an update that will fix my time capsule that died!?!?!?!? Seriously. WTF. I will not buy one again unless I am reassured that they resolved the issue with these things.

December 17 2010 at 9:18 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyAnd for the record,
Airport Extreme Base Station Firmware updates
will ALWAYS be done from within the Airport Utility.
- They will never be a download from the Apple site
- They will never be a Software Update, from the Apple/Software Update, in your menu bar.
The download page for the 7.5.2 firmware - has no download button. Hmm.
I updated APU to 5.5.2 - no joy looking that way either. I seem to meet all criteria.
Anyone else?
I'm glad to finally see the USB issues fixed on the AirPort. Unfortunately, after suffering with it for 2 years, I finally gave my dad my AirPort Extreme a couple months ago and got a Linksys router with DD-WRT firmware. I still have a couple Airport Expresses that might benefit from the AirPlay fixes, but I would have really hoped to see AirPrint get patched in, given that Apple still sells these as a wireless printing solution. Well, it wouldn't be Apple unless it was one feature short of perfection.
December 16 2010 at 7:39 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI've been tempted to make the switch to dd-wrt as well since Apple doesn't seem to give their base stations any attention unless they get a lot of bad press about time machines dying or now because AirPlay isn't working. So, to summarize what we've learned, Apple doesn't bother to release base station fixes unless they absolutely must because do we really believe that they *just* fixed those other issues.
December 16 2010 at 9:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI agree 100% and wish Apple would pay more attention to the AirPorts in general, including the older models. We shouldn't have to buy a new router every year or 2 just because Apple decided to stop updating the firmware on those models.
