Apple updates AirPort Utility 5.5.2 for Mac and Windows

Following the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility update released earlier today, Apple has just released a software update for AirPort Utility. The 5.5.2 update contains bug fixes and improvements, including the following:
  • Resolves an issue that caused the DHCP settings tab to display incorrectly
  • Resolves an issue that caused the application to quit unexpectedly when automatically launched
  • Resolves an issue that prevented the network password from being stored in the Keychain when the network on the 5GHz band was named differently
The AirPort Utility 5.5.2 update requires Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later and weighs in at 10.29 MB. You can download the update now via Software Update or via the web for Mac and Windows.

I think not! I upgraded to 5.5.2 a couple of months ago. Today, I tried changing the name of my 5GHz network. After the Airport rebooted, I was able to get into the newly-named 5GHz network, no problem. I was able to see the 2.4GHz network but it would not let me in ("invalid password" ). I tried changing the password (to see if it would store a new password in the chain correctly) but no luck.

Why do modems suck? Every single time I turn my television on, it works. Same with my cell and home phone. Yet the Internet? Man, modems have a serious attitude problem. If I just look at my modem wrong it gives me trouble.

Using an Aiport Base Station has helped remove the "one more service provider to blame" from the situation (see; netgear, speedstream) but, trouble shooting a lost internet signal is such a pain in the ass.

Are modems just crappy technology. What's the deal?

It turns out I had this problem, but it manifested itself by reverting back to the 2.4GHz g-band (when it couldn't log in through the 5GHz n-band). Strange... Hopefully this fix will resolve that.

Also note this update is for the Time Capsule also. As soon as I walked in the door, the update was staring me in the face.

I crashed my modem and now it's been three hours trying to re-connect and update. Nice Apple. Nice.

I learned long ago that if your TimeCapsule is blinking orange then your in for a long hard fight.

I have updated, but AirPort does not reflect the 5.5.2 and keeps trying to get me to update again. I went ahead and did the AirPort Express Firmware update, but 5.5.2 keeps coming up over and over again. ??

All is OK. I had moved my AU icon from Utilities to general apps, and that shortcut was still pointing to 5.5.1. The new 5.5.2 was in the Utilities folder.
