TUAW's Daily App: Corel Paint it! Now

It works well and does its job in an interesting way, as you can watch it "draw" the resulting image, suggesting some sort of drawing engine is at work. You can create some pretty funky pictures, and then you can send them off via email, Facebook or Flickr.
At even 99 cents, I'd question what this app is for, but at the current price of free, it's probably worth a download just to see it in action. In fact, Corel tells TUAW that the app has seen over 175k downloads already, so you'd be in good company. I wouldn't depend on it for anything important (the resolution is sadly low), but it's a nice little trick to spice up some pictures that could use a cool effect on them.

I had hoped that an iOS vesion of Painter would make it to the app store. I hope this is the beginning of Corel's recognition that a great art program that allows both auto and manual draw in realistic media, at a reasonable price, would be hugely popular with the "digital art crowd". That also includes me.
Basically, I would love it if Corel would port the most current version of Painter to iOS.
While Painter has not dropped out of sight completely, it is not well known by those who are not into digital art.
I would love to see a corel draw app.

The biggest problem I found is that it takes about 2 minutes (a quick coffee) to render a large image.
Also don't try to make it on someone face, it is might be very uncomplimentary.
For free, I see no reason why not to download it.

Very nice. Just downloaded and tried it on a few pics. Interesting to watch how it "draws" or "paints" the pics, and the finished product is pretty damn amazing!
