Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac OS now in the App Store

Finally out of beta, Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac is now available in the Mac App Store. The app lets those with a Windows Phone or a Zune HD and a Mac (an odd mix indeed) move photos, music and video between their devices and Macs running iTunes and iPhoto. Also, Windows Phone 7 Connector for Mac can be used to update your Windows phone.

Note that, when syncing music, only unprotected (non DRM) tracks are supported. The app is free and, like we said, available right now.

I have a WP7 and a mac. I really like the phone, and the music player on it is AWESOME. lightyears ahead of the iPod it replaced. it grabs artist profile and information automatically for the artist now playing. it can play movies natively without me having to re-encode them to a crappier version, and it doesn't do coverflow (that annoys the hell out of me on the touch).

This means I no longer have to boot into windows to sync my phone, as the beta version was garbage. The downside is, the Zune software for windows is actually quite nice, too. very simple and elegant. HOWEVER, it doesn't support ID3v2.4 which is moronic.

Just wanted to second you on one thing-- F**K COVERFLOW. I wish i could disable that entirely (other than by locking in the global orientation lock).

I also heard good things about the Zune and I think it's awesome that Microsoft is supporting the Mac. Previously to today, I would have said that WP and Zune aren't serious products since they are essentially unusable to people who don't use Windows (a growing number of people). Today, Microsoft is acknowledging that Mac support is a must-have feature for a product, regardless of their obvious natural bias towards their own platform.

Just like iTunes supporting Windows, this is a good thing. I'm very happy to hear it.

I might have seriously considered a 64gb Zune HD had MS done this sooner. As a pure music player, the Zune is very solid, and audiophiles consider it to be superior in sound quality to all iPods. I seriously don't know why it gets ragged on so much other than by Apple zealots because it's not an iDevice. As it is, I'm no longer able to plunk down the cash for one, but I would seriously consider one if I could. Choice is good. Competition is good.

Finally! Now both users with a Zune and a Mac can download this one!

I'd say it's a wonderful mix - proves the person isn't a dick, right? I mean the Zune was obviously a gift, and the person didn't want to hurt whoever gave it to them by exchanging it for an iPod.

More like the recipient was a pushover. Who in there right mind is smart enough to get a mac but dumb enough to accept a Zune as a gift? Return it and say you dropped it or it got stolen! Man up and tell the gift giver that "it's not compatible" or something. I mean up until today it really wasn't compatible right?

Just don't make lame excuses that you have to accept someone's present just so you don't hurt their feelings! It's the givers fault for not understanding how lame a present it was they gave you!

(My tongue was planted firmly in my cheek for this post :))

Yeah true... I mean I'm not a lover of all that's Mac - but I've spent enough time with Zunes to know that they're just awful, moreso if you compare them to the competition.
