AirStash beta adds support for WebDAV and iPad apps

The Airstash: It's a Flash Drive, it's a media server...

Not content with effectively adding unlimited storage to your iPhone and iPad, AirStash developer Wearable Inc. is introducing a public beta of the ability to read and write iWork files via WebDAV, making it easier to take your work with you wherever you go.

AirStash is a WiFi-connected flash drive reader. You can connect to it via Safari from your portable device or plug it into a USB port on your main computer, allowing you to expand your iDevice's storage to as many SD cards as you can carry.

It's a little expensive for a flash reader at US$99.99, and this new beta version of the software still has a few rough edges with regard to things like entering WEP keys and photo viewing. But if you're the sort of person who simply has to take your entire movie collection with you everywhere you go, it could be just the ticket.

As someone who rarely gets around to syncing his iPhone and changing what video I have on it, I'd actually be quite tempted by one of these.

Presumably it only needs to be fast enough for real-time data transfer (i.e. you don't copy the files on to it using Wifi, you only stream them off) so 'n' speed WiFi would be redundant? I'd be interested to know at what bit-rate video would have to be for 'n' speed WiFi to be required (for HD?) but I certainly had no trouble streaming SD video over a 'g/b' router at home in the past with perfect results.

One concern I would have is that it claims the maximum resolution it supports is 640x480. I have a bunch of SD DVD rips that are 720 × 576 so I wonder if these will be downscaled, or simply fail to play...

The deal-breaker for me is NO 'n' speed wifi.

How can you say it's expensive without saying what size it is? If it holds 1Tb of data, it's cheap!

It has no size or capacity, it's a card reader. You have to buy ad cards for storage capacity.
