Apple releases Xcode 4 GM. Again!

Apple has just posted another GM seed (number 2 if you're keeping count) of Xcode 4. Build 4A304a is ready for you to download, install, use and love. You need to be a paid member of either the iOS or the Mac dev programs to access this build.

Now, if Apple would only get around to, you know, releasing Xcode 4..., it would make life ever so much more interesting.

Be aware that if you are beta testing Lion, you will need to download and install the separate Lion-specific tools. Xcode 4 GM is built for Snow Leopard.

A tip of the developer's cowboy hat to Morgan for telling us about the re-release

you don't have to be a paid member just a developer who wants to develop for Apple. This product is located at the Apple store, with some other productivity products.

Thank you very much.

The Xcode is in all the Macs I had in Tiger... it can be rewritten on an older computer to work smoothly.

I like xcode 4 so much more than 3.2. They call it a GM seed but I still consider them RC 1 and 2, since they are not THE final Release version, and I expect to have to download and install yet again once it is Released. Worth it to me, since I'm a beginner in xcode, I would rather learn how the tool will be. (even if every training book and tutorial shows how to do things in several older versions and I have to figure out where they moved things or how they changed it so those things are gone etc...(

I'm new, too, and I love Xcode 4 for similar reasons.

I just downgraded from the 4.0 GM to 3.1.2. I just cannot program in iTunes!

I am not surprised. I had some ugly bugs using the first GM.

I was very happy to see this -- the first Xcode 4 GM was buggy as
hell. So far GM2 seems a bit more polished.

Yeah, I've been tolerating the bugs because the split-views are a huge time saver (stupid header files); but it crashes on me a dozen times a day.

I always submit the crash reports to Apple, so hopefully they've been squeezing in those extra fix-ups.

A "GM seed" is a release candidate. This isn't a re-release; it's the second release candidate of the final version of Xcode 4.

I'd actually like to see a couple of more beta releases on XCode 4. It looks awesome, but I keep falling back to 3.2 due to frequent crashes and general productivity killing bugs.
Fingers crossed...

Can't wait! Hopefully it'll be coming with iOS 4.3 public release.

Hi. I think it was rereleased because there were a few blocker bugs in it. I had to restart XCode4 a few times a day because it just crashed at some points. A known issue if you look into the forums.
