OS X 10.6.7 update causing problems with 3D acceleration for Quadro 4000 users
Users of NVIDIA's Quadro 4000 workstation graphics card may have a problem with 3D acceleration when updating to OS X 10.6.7. Apparently NVIDIA's display driver was incompatible with OS X 10.6.7, and during the installation process, the updater simply removes it. Without having the right driver the system can't take advantage of all the Quadro's features, and you may end up wondering why some things aren't working.
The good news is that there's an easy fix. Earlier today NVIDIA released a new version of the driver, and you're a quick update away from having everything running normally again.
There is also a report on the NVIDIA forums that suggests Mac OS X will not boot without having the updated driver installed. After speaking with NVIDIA, it seems that this is not the case, and the post was inaccurate -- you shouldn't have any trouble booting after the update.
It is a nice reminder, however, to be careful when you're making changes to machines in a professional setting; it's always a best practice to avoid making any update to a production-critical Mac until the issues are sorted out (and, preferably, after you've tested the update on the lab bench instead of on the front lines). If you can't afford to have a system out of commission, don't hit that update button (a lesson I've learned the hard way).

Oh gosh. I needed the update to fix my Early 2011 MacBook Pro. Now I'm gonna go test this even thoug I don't think its affecting me. I've already loaded iTunes I believe.
But, take this from a guy who was just flipping because of home sharing not working on my new MBP, Apple was right on it - if there is an issue I suggest:
Create a message on the official Apple Forums.
Call Apple and create a work order.
Make sure its wide spread (if not, there will be some fix for CERTAIN users and their setups)
Follow up with the work order.
Everyone post all their info to the forum post.
Apple will reference it all, for example with my home sharing issue, I referenced the forum post... A few 'already opened' work orders that i got from the forum post... And made my own. Apple did this quickly and painlessly.
The home sharing issue was basically on ALL new MBPs tho, so it was a slam dunk I think... They HAD to get right on it. But, I have faith in Apple.
They'll make it right. Going to check my system and if I am affected, will start what I just outlined. There probably is already a post, so search well on Apple forums.
Man i hope I don't have it. Ugh.
I was just getting pumped.
I'm getting the same issue on my MacBook Air 13"

I've definitely noticed this, and the only way to get it to work again is to restart. Various methods to fix it have been the combo update, reinstalling itunes, repairing permissions, to no avail. Only thing that has worked is removing com.apple.itunes.plist in library>preferences and iTunes Library Genius.itdb in the iTunes folder, and restarting. I've sent feedback to Apple, and I'm hoping they can provide a permanent fix. Hopefully TUAW can report on this issue, or possibly find a fix because this was a frustrating issue, and if anyone else was plagued with this issue, hopefully this temporary fix will help. Thanks
