Xcode 4.0.1 is now available
Apple has released Xcode 4.0.1 today. It's largely a bug fix release. Specific changes include:
- Improved Assistant editor logic when switching among different file types
- Fixed a bug in "Install Xcode.app" that hangs at 99% complete, never finishing
- Fixed a bug that prevented indexing of some projects
- Fixed a bug related to nil settings in the Core Data model editor
- Fixed a bug that prevented automatic download of iOS documentation
- Fixed a bug in LLVM GCC 4.2 and LLVM compiler 2.0 for iOS projects
- Additional bug fixes and stability improvements
You can grab your copy via the Mac App Store or Apple's site. Happy coding.

Has anyone else had the misfortune of having your entire hard drive wiped by the XCode 4 installation? There are a number of threads about the problem in the Apple discussion forums and no one (as far as I know) has had an adequate explanation of the problem from Apple. Or any compensation.

"You have updates available for other accounts
To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it"
I only have 1 Apple account and it's the one I'm signed in.
yes! the same thing is happening to me... :(

March 25 2011 at 8:42 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI was glad it was not only me ( as i discovered) that believed the App Store installer, when it told me it was installing and then had installed the update, and then was left wondering why my xcode version had not changed. When in fact all it was doing was dumping a installer into the Applications folder. And not even giving a clue that that what it had done.
I now find out that I can not even dump the 4.x Gb lump of installer.. Did I fall a sleep and wake up in a world where that makes sense..
I purchased Xcode 4.0 thru the Mac App Store. Once I had it installed, I delete the 4.58 GB "Install Xcode" from my /Applications folder. Now the Mac App Store doesn't recognize that I need the 4.0.1 update. So now, I am in the process of restoring "Install Xcode" from my Time Machine.

March 25 2011 at 5:29 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI purchaaed Xcode 4 for $5 bucks from the Mac App Store,
to turn on 4 and 5 finger gestures, on my iPad2.
Otherwise, it's all chineese to me.
I haven't closed Xcode 4 since I got it.
Of course, I'm also fast approaching a presentation where I have to give the status of my research so it's also been constantly running code.
I hope this fixes the codesigning bug that's been plagueing many of us for a while now.
