TUAW readers get 30% off "Take Control of iWeb '09"

TUAW's very own superstar Steve Sande has released a new ebook version of "Take Control of iWeb '09," and it's updated to reflect the fact that iWeb is practically the same in both iLife '09 and the newer iLife '11. No matter which iLife you're using, Steve's got some excellent tips in here for you. From using Dropbox to share and publish low-cost iWeb sites, to embedding Google Calendars and Keynote presentations, and even setting up iWeb sites for mobile iOS devices, Steve has you covered on all the various functions of iWeb 3 for either iLife '09 or iLife '11.

Since you're reading TUAW, you can consider yourself lucky. By following this link, you can get Steve's ebook for 30% off, making the usually US$15 ebook just $10.50. Congrats to our own Mr. "TUAW TV Live" on another successful publication, and if you want to grab that special TUAW-only discount, head through the link above.

Is there another WYSIWYG editor like iWeb out there? I'm a big fan and frustrated with the lack of updates/new development for iWeb. People keep saying that iWeb is dead, but what can replace it? (I've tried to work with Rapidweaver twice and it's just not my cup of tea.)

Same here. I got Rapidweaver in a software bundle and made a pretty big effort to get into it, but I missed the WYSIWYGness of iWeb.

I can start with a blank page in iWeb and ignore the templates. Drag pieces and set sizes like a layout program.

What else can do that like iWeb?

Sandvox - watch the screencasts and see if it's more of what you are looking for... assuming that iWeb on it's last legs.

Ibooks eat 30% of gross earnings. Kinda dumb.

Is it on iBooks? Haven't had time to check.

I really want to take control of iWeb09 but unluckily i'm stuck with iWeb08 because iWeb is as far as i know the only iApp you can't buy on the Mac AppStore.

Please note that buying a MacBox Set only to get iWeb is not an acceptable option for me...

Normally I would take advantage of this. I have several 'Take Control of' publications and get a lot out of them, but iWeb is over.

Apple basically put it out to pasture when they failed to update it last year.

Can I kindly suggest you write about Sandvox or Rapidweaver instead? Sandvox actually was out at the same Macworld as iWeb.

That's a big assumption....Apple has also skipped years for upgrading other software apps (iWork, for example), but subsequently upgraded them later. It doesn't make sense for Apple to abandon iWeb completely, given the minimal cost involved in incremental upgrades every 2-3 years versus the perceived value for a Windows switcher. iWeb was one of the 'wow' things which got me to switch from Windows. Before switching, I was using something called "Yahoo SiteBuilder". No comparison!
