TUAW's Daily iOS App: First Touch Soccer

If you enjoy soccer or soccer video games and happen to own an iPhone, First Touch Soccer is a must-buy. I'm not a big fan of soccer, but this is an impressively premium title with great visuals, solid controls and lots of extras, including home team themed menus, multiple modes, social integration and even a real rock soundtrack.

If there's a drawback to First Touch Soccer, it's that the game suffers from the same issues more traditional console sports games do. The gameplay obviously depends on your love of soccer, and things like the announcer tracks can get repetitive. Also, the teams aren't officially named; there are over 250 teams that are obvious versions of the various soccer clubs around the world, though they're tweaked enough to avoid official licenses. But those are small quibbles in the bigger picture: a full-scale professional soccer title running great on iOS.

The game's a bargain right now at US$0.99. When you compare that to the $20 or $30 that you'd normally pay for a full handheld soccer game like this, First Touch Soccer is a no-brainer.

You can't compare this to PS3/xBox, obviously! But all in all and considering the platform it is built on, I'd say this game's definitely worth the cost and fun to play...and I'm not even a huge soccer fan lol.

I just downloaded the game and it's pretty good. I like it, and I'm a picky person.

I would like to suggest that, when you mention the cost of apps, you also discuss any inApp purchase options in terms of what they cost and what they enable.

I bought it for £0.59 and yes it is a no brainer and its far better than the crappy fifa but not as good PES. Hope fully they'll iron out the kinks with an up date. the online multipalyer is pretty good.

I am avoiding this game because you said "not as good PES"...
Sorry but no Soccer game even came close to being fun on iOS devices...

Maybe I got my standards too high because of playing Fifa 11/PES 2011 on PlayStation3, but the iOS version of the big boy console version is too crappy (as in with any game on PS3/XBOX to iOS)

I have played them all and PES on the iphone iPad is the best as for PS3 It has got to be PES everytime even though Fifa on the ps3 isn't bad at all. I must admit bias towards PES as i played that from the 1st release on PS1.

Hang on it's on 59p $0.99 its better than FIFA on iphone/ipad which are all crap but not quite as good as PES.
