Reeder for Mac now available on Mac App Store

Reeder, a popular Google Reader client on iOS, is now out of beta and available on the Mac App Store. While the beta version of Reeder for the Mac was free to test, the 1.0 release will set you back US$9.99, more than twice the price of the iPad version.
That $9.99 offers syncing with Google Reader (which you can set up for free), plus integration with Readability, Instapaper, ReadItLater, Pinboard, Delicious, Zootool and more. The app has a customizable, multi-column interface that's superficially similar to the iPad version, and Reeder includes gesture support and customizable shortcuts.
If you read a lot of news on your Mac, Reeder definitely looks like a big step up from reading RSS feeds in Safari or Mail. We've got several Reeder fans on the TUAW staff, and one of them will likely be providing a full review of Reeder in the near future.

Does reeder work with categories on google reader? I have so many RSS feeds that I have to have them divided up in categories and I like to view everything in that category at once as opposed to the individual feeds in each category. Can reeder do this?

Overcharging non-American customers seems to be the standard in the Apple app stores -- are they using conversion rates from 2006 or something? (it's not a sales tax thing either)
I was a Reeder beta tester and I have to say I like it, but I don't 15 bucks like it.
I was expecting it to be $5 or less. I already have both the iPhone and iPad versions myself and while the Mac version is nice to have, it's not worth the extra 10$.
I realize that the beta was out for six months and I think the strategy for the developers was for people to get cozy with it. The beta hit my trash can once the final release hit the App Store for $10. I don't think every app has to be a success story and we'll see how it does at the $10 price point.
Yes, it would have been nice if they introduced it at a reduced price and thanked everyone that beta tested ( and by beta test, I mean milked people extensively for free QA to only turn around and charge them a Hamilton).
Big fan of Reeder on the iPad and with a multitouch trackpad on a Mac you get a similar reading experience. Happy with my purchase.

I agree with Christian, that developers should be paid.
However, I also bought the ipad version & iphone version, I really don't want to buy the Mac version too.
I use Reeder on iPhone and iPad religiously -- but Google has yet to build a good version or versions of Google Reader for iOS. However, Google Reader in a desktop web browser works very well.
Paying $3 or $5 when there is no good alternative makes a lot of sense. Paying $10 when there is a solid, free alternative? I'm not sold.
Anybody who complains about the price of this app needs to grow up. Adults pay for things, and this is one of the finest, most elegant apps ever crafted for any platform. I consider it a privilege to be able to pay $10 to reward Silvio for his months and months of hard work. Truth be told, I’d have been willing to pay 5x more than that.
Reeder is an invaluable tool and a beautiful app. I have nothing but the highest praise for it.
Wow sounds like you work for the company or have some close ties going on with them.
Pay 5x for an app that connects to a free service to pump your feeds?
While I agree 9.99 is not a big deal you started to sound like an infomercial.
I love this app too and I'm happy to pay someone for their work. The Mac version didn't just magically spring out of the ground because iOS versions exist.
I don't work for and I'm not connected to Reeder in any way other than being a very happy customer.
