Bentley offers Mac mini, iPads option for 100,000 euros

Bentley is showcasing a new Apple-centric option in its Mulsanne line of luxury automobiles. The add-on package will install one Mac mini and two iPads in the over-sized V8 Touring car. The Mac mini is hidden in the trunk and connected to an LCD installed on the interior ceiling. The LCD swivels down from the ceiling and sits in between the rear seats. There's even a Magic Trackpad to control the computer.

In the center console, there are controls that open two trays in the back of the front seats. Each tray has an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard so you can work while you're being chauffeured all over the town. This highly desirable Apple package is a concept Bentley is showing off. It may or may not land in an actual car. If it is eventually offered, the package will cost 100,000 euro (US $138,580) on top of the car's 250,000 euro base price ($346,00).

I'm sure that this will look gorgeous when done. I understand that it costs money to engineer and road certify this as well. That said, charging a 40% uplift seems overly excessive... That's my $0.02 (or like 0.00000578% of the cost of the car)

How about some useful options that connect the mac mini up to the car's electrical systems and record location, fuel consumption, service history, etc. etc.

The sad thing is that rich people will pay this crazy amount. I am sure it looks REALLY REALLY nice but $140,000 for what, a Mini and 2 iPads, LCD display?

What is this world coming to?

It's not for the Apple hardware you pay, it's gonna be neatly concealed inside the car. And that part of engineering is costly.

I bet an experienced teenage installer at Car Toys could do it for $1000.

How about this...

I'll install the same system and warranty it for life. AND - I'll only charge you $50,000 for it.

Send inquiries to omg@nevergonnabuythat.idiots

Josh, the ipad and the LCD gonna get powered, then the power source breaks, are you gonna open up a bentley and reassemble the interior with the same maniacal quality? Also including in price is road safety approval of the equipment, you just can't install something in car to make it sell faster, if you don't wanna get sued after. Imagine this LCD exploding in the owner's face.. :-)
