Mac OS X 10.7.2 now in Software Update, includes iCloud
The iCloud-enabled Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 update is now available via Software Update. Below is Apple's write-up of the contents for this new release.
---
The 10.7.2 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. It also includes support for iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your content on iCloud and push it to all of your devices. iCloud on OS X Lion includes the following features:
- iCloud stores your email, calendars, contacts, Safari bookmarks, and Safari Reading List and automatically pushes them to all your devices.
- Back to My Mac provides remote access to your Mac from another Mac anywhere on the Internet.
- Find My Mac helps find a missing Mac by locating it on a map and allows you to remotely lock the Mac or wipe all its data.
Getting started with iCloud is easy. After installing the update, OS X will automatically present an iCloud setup panel. Simply enter an existing Apple ID or create a new one and then follow the on screen instructions. To learn more about iCloud visit http://www.apple.com/icloud.
The 10.7.2 update also includes Safari 5.1.1 as well as fixes that:
- Allow reordering of desktop spaces and full screen apps in Mission Control.
- Enable dragging files between desktop spaces and full screen apps.
- Address an issue that causes the menu bar to not appear in full screen apps.
- Improve the compatibility of Google contact syncing in Address Book.
- Address an issue that causes Keynote to become temporarily unresponsive.
- Improve VoiceOver compatibility with Launchpad.
- Address an issue that causes a delay in accessing the network after waking from sleep.
- Enable booting in to Lion Recovery from a locally attached Time Machine backup drive.
- Resolve an issue that causes screen zoom to stop working.
- Improve Active Directory integration.

Unfortunately iCloud does not work.
I tried to synchronize my 500 contacts and on my 2 iOS5 devices I always lost a random 10% of them.
Luckily I did NOT migrate my MobileMe account but made tests with a brand new account so I could go back to MMe.
I hope Apple stops releasing untested junk (I also hope they remove autosave/versions, restore the old well-working expose+spaces, improve address book and iCal as they used to be, give us front row back... ok, better move to sth else than Lion...)
worked perfectly for me, Lion even got better, lots of bug fixes, clunky adobe flash video after awake from sleep for example, solved...

October 13 2011 at 11:23 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyStupid iCloud stuff. The most important service, iDisk, has been removed. So ultra-lame that Apple wants us to group our files per application. I have dozens of project folders containing documents, sounds, graphics, notes, etc... All of this is not supported or stimulated by iCloud. Instead Apple assumes I only create birthday invites with Apple Pages, and like to store them "inside" my word processor container. F*ck you Apple!
October 13 2011 at 7:08 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplySince when has iDisk really, really worked for you? Also, what's stopping you from using DropBox / forcing you to move from MobileMe? You could very much still use MobileMe for free until 2012.
Apple gave you a free year of MobileMe with you otherwise would have to pay for. You don't have to upgrade.
Juts upgraded to iOS 5 but I have some questions...
My Apple ID isn't accepted just because it isn't an email address... Do I really need to change it in order to use iCloud? iCloud it doesn't seem to work for music. Whenever I open iTunes on my computer or on my iPhone, I can see Apps or Books only. Is there a country restriction?
Finally, a general question. If I select to backup to iCloud instead on my computer, is it going to sync EVERYTHING (just like the iTunes backup) or just settings and app data? I mean, my music, videos... will be in the could or not? Thank you
I downloaded update and now won't restart!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I go to setup iCloud, yeah no worries, then suddenly I get an advisory. You cannot sync contacts to both Google and iCloud, it is one or the other (it didn't mention Yahoo, which I also sync). I had not read about this previously and the help is as helpful as you would expect. ie: not
Only 402MB to go with 5 hours left on a high speed cable network. Oh how I love to torture myself knowing Apple is enjoying the media hype. Yet I keep coming back for more...

Clicked the "Buy App" button, and the gear near the navigation arrows in upper left corner, has been spinning for nearly an hour now. Not sure where I stand with this purchase.
