Forever Drive gets update to add new free features, smoother gameplay

I'll admit, I've balked at Forever Drive on iOS in the past -- it's a freemium driving game that has seemed a little too simple to me until now. But developers Supermono Studios have released a big new update for the game, and it's worth checking out if you haven't yet. Instead of choosing a track and driving it, as you might in most games, Forever Drive sends you out along an infinite series of tracks, with a timer to chase. Keep hitting the time extends quickly, and you can supposedly drive for ever.

The interesting part here, however, is that like LittleBigPlanet or other user content-based games, the tracks in Forever Drive are made by all kinds of people, including you if you want to get a little creative. It makes the game that much more fun, trying to figure out as you race through a track just what the designer was after.

The new update smooths out the game play quite a bit, and opens the game up a little more. Free users can now make up to five tracks of their own, and you can earn the credits that were only available via in-app purchase. Those are excellent changes, and if Supermono keeps heading in this direction with future updates, Forever Drive could become one of the App Store's best freemium titles. It's available right now.
