TUAW Best of 2011: Vote for the best iPad case
The nominations are in, and the poll is ready to go! The TUAW Best of 2011 awards are all about you -- the readers -- and what you think is the cream of the crop of Apple or third-party products and software. To vote, select one entry from the top nominations made by readers. We'll be announcing the winner in just a few days. Vote early and often!
TUAW is asking for your votes for the best iPad case of 2011.
Very few iPad owners seem to keep their devices "naked," instead choosing to wrap them in a case of some sort. Much to my surprise, all of the cases were folio type cases, with the "book style" case being the most popular.
Our nominees for this are the Twelve South BookBook for iPad (US$69.99), the Portenzo cases (Customized, Composition, Italian Bonded Leather and Premium Genuine Leather -- $59.95 to $124.95 depending on model, options not included), San Francisco's own DODOcase ($59.95), the Bear Motion folio ($59.95 MSRP), and the Zaggfolio keyboard case ($99.99).
And now, let the voting begin! The results will be announced on December 29, 2011.

I love my Portenzo composition case and get compliments constantly but have never tried the others so I have nothing to bash...I just love my Portenzo!!

But I have used dodocase, and it's practical, beautiful, and sustainable! Bought 1 for my boyfriend, 2 for my best friends, and 1 for my sister - if dodocase was made of bad quality, why would I share them with my closest friends/family?

Agree I had a dodocase the quality was not there. The contact points are weak and wear out. The wood frame breaks easily. Even the sticker [that is huge and you must have it] was carelessly placed crooked. And on top of that they do not have a hole for front facing camera.
PORTENZO is quality. They use a different material for the contact points and have a LOT more customization options. Plus the sticker is tiny and easily removable.
Dodo is winning because they where first. Not best.
The DODO case is just a tad more popular than the Portenzo, but Portenzos cases are so much better!!!!

Better than 2 to 1 for DODcase... I've often wondered how big a "tad" was, I guess now I know. The PRETENDzo is just a knockoff... It still isn't the original a DODO

It has a sleep/wake function like the iPad smart covers do, you can get a camera hole built in, and those little rubber things that hold the iPad in are different than DODO's, they are much better, and they last longer. The build of Protenzo is much better. It's not a knock off, it's on a completely different level!

The quality of DODO is just HORRIBLE and crappy. Portenzo + iPad 2 = perfect match. It is amazing, and it really adds a lot of value to my iPad, it makes it more elegant, and it brings out the 800 dollars I spent on it haha :p But Portenzo... Just go watch a video review of it, and compare it to a DODOcase review!!
Dodo case is quality equal to the IPad. Perfect pair!!!
