OfficeDrop Sync brings another cloud storage option to Mac
Originally launched as a means to snap and store searchable photos of office-related documents in the cloud, OfficeDrop has graduated to a fully fledged cloud storage option for any type of file with the introduction of OfficeDrop Sync for Mac.
The free downloadable client can be used with any folder on your system simply by right-clicking it in the Finder and selecting an option from the pop-up menu. Of course, OCR indexing -- which makes uploaded images searchable based on text they include -- is still a major selling point for the OfficeDrop service.
OfficeDrop also offers a newly redesigned web interface featuring image and document thumbnails for easy visual searching. Free accounts are available with 2 GB of storage and up to 50 pages of OCR indexing per month. Single-user paid plans start at US$9.95/month for 20 GB and 1,000 OCR pages and go to $24.95/month for 50 GB and 2,500 OCR pages. Multi-user plans geared towards small businesses start at $45.95/month for 90 GB and 1,000 OCR pages.
In addition to its new Mac client, OfficeDrop has a free universal app for iPhone and iPad that lets you snap photos of documents and instantly uploads them to your cloud storage where they're processed to become fully searchable.
Sync any desktop folder instantly to the cloud; save and search cloud files
faster and easier than ever before
CAMBRIDGE, MA -- Online cloud storage platform OfficeDrop today introduced a brand new user interface for our searchable storage accounts, and a Mac file sync client that will rock your iOS-loving world! OfficeDrop Mac users can now instantly sync any file or folder on their computer to the cloud. Paired with an intuitive new web interface that shows icons of all of your folders and thumbnail views of docs (so you can find exactly what you're looking for), this OfficeDrop update makes it much easier to sync and navigate your files.
"OfficeDrop has seen tremendous traction since the introduction of our Windows Sync client earlier this year," said Prasad Thammineni, CEO of OfficeDrop. "Our value proposition has always been to make it super simple for small businesses to back up and share their files in the cloud. OfficeDrop Sync takes this philosophy a step further by making it ultra-intuitive to back up files and access them from anywhere."
OfficeDrop Sync for Mac cloud-connects a behavior that everyone with a computer knows how to do -- save a file within a desktop folder. Unlike other cloud storage and sync services, OfficeDrop lets you connect any folder on your desktop to the cloud -- no need to make a whole new magic folder. Once you sync a folder, any new item instantly gets added to the cloud without any extra steps required!
Once your files are stored safely within OfficeDrop's cloud, the new web user interface allows you to easily search for files and share them with others. Once you log into your OfficeDrop online cloud storage account, your folders look similarly to how they already do on your desktop. Think of it as a mirror-image, access-anywhere, shareable version of the files on your computer.
Here's how to sync any folder on your Mac with OfficeDrop. Simply download and install OfficeDrop's Mac sync client for free, install it and select any folder on your desktop. "Right click" on the folder using Control + a mouse click and select the "Sync with OfficeDrop sync" option from the menu. Then, simply search and share your files using your OfficeDrop account online.
