Microsoft Office 2004 SP2 11.2.1 Update Released

Don’t mention it to Dvorak, but here I am discussing Microsoft on my own accord. Why? Because they’ve actually done something that deserves attention. So, let’s dive in.

Approximately a month back, Microsoft unveiled an update that had the corporate world buzzing with excitement.

The Office 2004 Service Pack 2 significantly enhanced Entourage’s compatibility with Exchange servers, much to the delight of its users who often felt overlooked. While it wasn’t a perfect update, it was a commendable effort, and I give them props for that. However, it wasn’t without its flaws, notably a critical bug that could lead to data loss when Entourage tried to sync with an Exchange mailbox that was recently migrated from another server.

Data loss is, without a doubt, a serious issue.

The Mac Business Unit at Microsoft quickly stepped up, acknowledging the problem, and within a month, they rolled out Office 2004 SP2 version 11.2.1. This update not only addresses the critical bug but also fixes several other minor issues. They could have been faster, sure, but at least they didn’t ignore the problem for months on end.
