Yojimbo Enhanced with New 3-Pane Widescreen Hack

It’s not often I discuss tools I’m not fond of—recall the three-pane widescreen plugin for Mail.app? This time, Jon Hicks—yes, the same Jon Hicks—has adapted a similar layout for Yojimbo through a clever modification. Now, anyone can modify their Yojimbo into a three-pane, widescreen format.

This tweak, which is compatible with the newly released version 1.4 that we discussed previously, is straightforward to apply, though I recommend reading Jon’s detailed guide carefully, and yes, that includes his advice on making backups. Be aware, however, that minimizing the Yojimbo window too much may cause the notes list to overlap the note preview area.

Luckily, a simple click on the divider corrects this issue, so it’s a minor inconvenience at most.

Personally, I’m a believer in the significance of names (including email subject lines). Perhaps it’s just my blogging habits, but I prefer my notes to have very descriptive titles, which I like to see in full.
