Initial Impressions: Exploring the New York Times

Among the myriad of apps available on the App Store, the NYTimes app was one I was eager to embrace, given my admiration for the New York Times. Unfortunately, the app falls short of expectations.

While the mobile site of the Times performs admirably on the iPhone, the app itself does not. My testing on a first-generation iPhone via WiFi revealed slow performance, with images failing to load and advertisements cluttering the screen intermittently.

Although the search function is a decent feature, it’s not enough to justify using the app over the more efficient mobile website.

It’s better to stick with the mobile site and save some space on your device.
