SlotZ Racer iPhone Game Preview: Exciting Racing App

For those who grew up in the 1960s or 1970s, the thrill of slot cars might bring back some nostalgic memories. These miniature cars raced around a track equipped with electric grooves, guided by a pin underneath each car. Many might recall the joy of racing these cars around a track laid out under the Christmas tree, competing with family members for the win.

It seems the developers at Freeverse share these fond memories, as they are poised to release a new game titled SlotZ Racer.

I had the opportunity to try out an early version of this game, and it proved to be incredibly engaging. The game features a variety of tracks, from simple ovals to complex Grand Prix styles, and includes a track editor that allows players to design their own circuits. Options within the game let you adjust the number of lanes, scale of the cars (1:32 or HO), and whether cars can switch lanes during the race.

Controlling the cars is straightforward: simply press and hold on the lower left corner of the iPhone screen to accelerate.

True to the slot car experience, pushing your car too fast will cause it to derail and flip off the track. To slow down, just lift your finger or thumb from the screen.

While the pricing details are yet to be announced, SlotZ Racer is expected to make its debut at the upcoming Macworld Expo. Be sure to check out the image gallery for a sneak peek at what’s coming.
