Apple TV Update Introduces Gesture Control for Remote

Apple has discreetly released updates for both the Apple TV and its Remote app for iPhone and iPod touch.

The new software versions, 2.4 for Apple TV and 1.3 (24) for the Remote app, introduce gesture-based controls allowing users to manage their Apple TV using their iPhone or iPod.

Our Apple TV enthusiasts, Megan Lavey and Christina Warren, have already tested these updates.

Megan reported that the gestures are smooth and efficient, enhancing navigation significantly, especially with the added convenience of using the iPhone/iPod keyboard for searching content.

However, Boxee enthusiasts might want to delay updating; it appears reinstallation of Boxee could be problematic post-update.
