Skype Releases Security Update for Mac Client

Recently, it was disclosed that a significant security flaw in the Skype 5 application for Mac could potentially allow harmful contacts to compromise your system through an instant message, a method only possible with contacts already marked as ‘trusted’ on Skype.

Fortunately, the Skype Mac team addressed this issue by releasing a patch on April 14, although it was not automatically distributed to all users.

As of the latest updates, a new hotfix (5.1.0.935) has been made available to all users of Skype 5.

This update not only rectifies the security vulnerabilities but also amends several bugs, including those affecting video functionality on high-speed networks.
